From contributor to Group Director — a tenure spanning the transformation of UK automotive's biggest digital group.
Constellation Automotive Group is the largest vertically integrated digital car marketplace in Europe, spanning 12 countries and combining leading B2C, B2B and B2B2C brands — cinch (one of the fastest-funded startups in UK history), BCA, WeBuyAnyCar, Elmo, Marshall and CarNext.
As Group Design & Research Director, I led the design of in-life and new products across the entire portfolio — from consumer mobile apps and trade marketplaces through to AI-powered services and aftercare propositions.
Six leading automotive brands. Twelve markets. Three customer segments.

Each brand brought a different customer, different commercial model, and different platform constraints — but a single design language and research practice held the work together.
How I framed the work of leading a multi-brand design org.
Upon arrival, the challenge was to educate the business on human-centered design practices, demonstrate value, and scale the org accordingly. I ensured proper staffing across UX, UI, product design, content and UX writing, design systems, design ops and research. Collaborated with peers to create well-defined career paths — and promoted multiple team members into senior and management roles.
Managed design across multiple channels — native iOS and Android, desktop, tablet and mobile. Drove innovation across AI and ML initiatives including vehicle damage detection — developing products and services that generated new revenue streams and increased confidence in both consumer and trade buying.
Partnered with executive peers across the company to drive visibility for the design org's work — through monthly exec board presentations, speaking at senior management events, town halls, and wider team events. This created a clear sense of mission, purpose and belonging that the team scaled into.
Maintained the group's position as a leader in the competitive automotive landscape — delivering exceptional experiences across multiple verticals, running experimentation across existing B2C and B2B products, and bringing new innovative propositions to market, including cinchCharge.
